Jan de Laat

Jan de Laat, PhD, studeerde natuurkunde aan de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven.

Hij bereidde zijn proefschrift “The perception of fluctuating sounds by hearing-impaired listeners” voor aan het VU Medisch Centrum in Amsterdam.

Hij was/is medisch-fysicus – audioloog bij de afdeling Audiologie van het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (tot 2022 voor klinische uren, en nog steeds voor onderwijs en wetenschappelijk onderzoek).

Zijn wetenschappelijke expertise is de ontwikkeling en toepassing van nieuwe diagnostische psychofysische instrumenten voor slechthorende kinderen en ouderen.

Hij was/is lid van de adviesraad van verschillende stichtingen, zoals de Nederlandse Hoorstichting en de Nederlandse Stichting voor Opleidingen in de Audiologie, en lid van de referentiecommissie van verschillende instellingen, zoals scholen voor doven en slechthorenden.

Hij is auteur van vele artikelen en hoofdstukken in internationale tijdschriften en boeken.

Jan de Laat, PhD, studied physics at the Eindhoven University of Technology.

He prepared his thesis “The perception of fluctuating sounds by hearing-impaired listeners” at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam.

He was/is medical-physicist – audiologist at the Department of Audiology of the Leiden University Medical Center (until 2022 for clinical hours, and still for education and scientific research purposes).

His scientific expertise is the development and application of new diagnostic psychophysical tools for hearing-impaired children and elderly.

He was/is member of the advisory board of different foundations, like the Dutch Hearing Foundation and the Dutch Foundation for Educational Courses in Audiology, and member of the committee of reference of different institutions, like schools for the deaf and hearing impaired.

He is the author of many papers and chapters in international journals and books.
